The Return of EBSCO Databases - Part 1 - CINAHL Ultimate

by Erin Moore on 2023-03-15T04:21:00-07:00 in Allied health, Education, Evidence-based practice, Help, Nursing, Nursing: Nursing research, Nursing: Nursing specialties | 0 Comments

Cumulative Index of Allied Health Literature (CINAHL) is a trusted name in the database game that nursing staff and health professionals have come to rely on. CINAHL Ultimate in particular is described as the "new, definitive resource for nursing and allied health research" covering more than 50 nursing specialties in more than 30 languages!

More than any other CINAHL collection, Ultimate boasts extensive coverage of non open-access journals.  If you'd like to learn more, please check out the side-by-side product rundown of CINAHL Ultimate that includes an exhaustive list of indexed journals and subject coverage. I appreciate the attention to integrity of indexing, i.e. prioritizing how information gets tagged and classified to help end users uncover more of the information they need. Ebsco uses "Enhanced Subject Precision", a system to anticipate other terms/keywords that may pertain to the searches you are conducting.

New Features of Note:

  • Evidence-Based Care Sheets (EBCS) - quick medical summaries on a wide variety of topics
  • Quick Lessons - nursing overviews mapped to the nursing workflow (etiology, diagnosis, assessment, treatment, communication with family & friends)
  • Cited References - search by author, source (journal), title, year, or multiple fields
  • CEU Modules - from the search screen, put a checkmark in the limiter box for "CEU module" and conduct your search
