Library Services Changes in 2020

Banner Health Library Services will be diversifying our online collections.  Consolidation of Elsevier-EBSCO products will start Jan. 1, 2020 and they will be replaced by a compendium of resources and databases from Lippincott, Ovid, and Wolters Kluwer.

New databases from Lippincott, Ovid, and Wolters Kluwer will provide Banner Health staff and affiliates with the world's most comprehensive and trusted scholarly, peer-reviewed literature in nursing and allied health.  The new platform will be easier to search, discover, and manage the information that matters most.

Why are we making this change?

The new collection will focus on evidence-based literature and the latest scientific advancements that support patient treatment in a wide variety of healthcare settings, leading to more cost-effective, higher quality care.  Library Services will be better able to support and complement Banner Health corporate initiatives while making it easier for staff and affiliates to access clinically relevant results to make providing healthcare easier and better for Sophia.

FAQ

Q: Will I still be able to search in PubMed and access articles?

A: Yes, access via PubMed will not be interrupted.   Banner Health Library Services will continue to provide a direct link to either full text resources or the article form.  If you are unfamiliar with this service, try it here https://library.bannerhealth.com/pubmed

Q: Will this change affect me if I work in the Western Region?

A: Staff and affiliates in the Western region will also begin transitioning to the new Lippincott, Ovid, and Wolters Kluwer resources. 

Q: Will I still have access to CINAHL?

A: CINAHL will be replaced with Ovid Emcare. Emcare has been become a leader in the area of nursing literature databases.  Some of the improvements will be a wider international collection, more evidence-based resources, and significantly more allied health resources.
