OpenAthens is an authentication system that provides access to multiple online resources with a single user name and password.
OpenAthens provides access to resources anytime, anywhere, from any computer with an Internet connection.
With OpenAthens, users may get to online databases, books and journals. Popular resources include: EBSCO, Emcare, Medline, AccessMedicine and Banner's A to Z journal list.
Complete the OpenAthens registration form. After review, an activation code will be sent to you by e-mail. Note that it may take up to 3 business days for your account to be created. Incomplete forms may delay processing.
If you use Banner's VPN connection, there are only rare instances in which OpenAthens would give additional access to journal content. IT coordinates access for physicians and staff who have work requirements to connect to the network from home.

If you remember your OpenAthens user name and the e-mail address associated with your OpenAthens account, you may reset your password here. HINT: All user names start with AHI.

OpenAthens is now designed so that your e-mail address may be used in place of your user name.
The OpenAthens website is https://my.openathens.net. You may also login from the library website.
Many individual resources have a login area for OpenAthens users as well. Look for a "OpenAthens" link by the site's main login box.
To save searches in OVID, you will need to follow the instructions on the screen to set up a personal account. We suggest that you register with your OpenAthens login information for easy recall.
Reminder: passwords are case sensitive.
You may have lost your login information by opening a new browser session. You are only authenticated in the browser session that you used to log in. Opening a new browser session by clicking on the browser icon requires you to log in again. When you switch to a different publisher's site, click on its "OpenAthens Login" link for your account to be recognized.
Banner Health does not subscribe to all content. If you are unable to access a resource with your OpenAthens contact please contact the library and request the desired articles. The Library is very quick to turn around articles.
You do not need an OpenAthens account to remotely access UpToDate. You will need to create a personal account with UpToDate while on campus. Your personal UpToDate account is how you can access the resource offsite or on your personal device. To keep the account active, you must log into your account using a Banner computer at a Banner location at least once every three months.

Banner Health Library Services signs license agreements with publishers when subscribing to electronic/online resources. The terms of these agreements limit off-site access to these resources to eligible users. Eligible users are all Banner Health physicians and employees and some interns and students. If you are an intern or student, contact the library to determine eligibility. The library uses OpenAthens, a single sign on software (SSO), to authenticate off-site users to access restricted resources. OpenAthens is an identity and access management software that manages and maintains identity information for publishers and users. Our goal, at Banner Health Library Services, is to make accessing restricted resources easier for our customers. An SSO, like OpenAthens, enhances usability of our resources by reducing password fatigue and provides better security.
