  2. Review the clinical workup of resistant hypertension including the importance of ruling out medication non-adherence, obtaining out-of-office or a 24-hr ABPM and ruling out secondary causes of hypertension.
  3. Recognize the importance of lifestyle modification and the evidence for the use of chlorthalidone rather than hydrochlorothiazide, and a mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist to improve BP control in those with resistant hypertension after excluding a secondary cause of hypertension.
