Search Spotlight: Elder Abuse

by Erin Moore on 2024-06-12T05:00:00-07:00 in Allied health, Diversity & Equity, Education, Ethics, Gerontology | 0 Comments

June 15th marks Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Noted in the literature as a global human rights issue, Elder Abuse is prevalent but preventable. Please have a look at a librarian-curated list of articles on both Elder Abuse Prevalence (limited to last 5 years) and Elder Abuse Prevention (limited to last 10 years).

Banner Librarian, Amy Nadell, developed an excellent PubMed search strategy to identify quality research studies on these topics. Search strategies developed by Banner librarians are a labor of love, you could say, and are crafted with rigor and translatable across other databases (such as OVID Medline, Embase, CINAHL Ultimate, and many more). Please reach out to the library to learn how to search more efficiently and systematically. Banner librarians provide training and learning resources to elevate your information retrieval prowess.

Quick Refresher

Some of you may have heard of the "Research Rundown" in blog posts past if you're keen on this library blog. The Rundown, as I'll call it, is a collection of trending search topics asked by you, dear health care professional, and shared with the wider community. The Rundown aspires to connect you quickly to linked PubMed articles to dip your feet in the waters of topics of interest to the Banner community and learn something new and useful in support of our mission.

This blog post will spotlight one of those trending topics from 2024, Elder Abuse.

Please take a moment to review these articles on a troubling and important topic. As always, reach out to your Banner Librarians for support! That's why we're here :)
