Wednesday, January 25th is National Library Shelfie Day, and you can bet your Banner Health Librarians want to take a moment to celebrate.
What is National Library Shelfie Day, you ask? For starters, it's a day to recognize the myriad ways in which library shelves enrich our lives. Much more than physical reserves of bound books, library shelves constitute and symbolize literacy, education, imagination, creativity, inquiry, memory, history, and the vast expanse of knowledge waiting for you, reader, to transform it into wisdom. On this unique day, readers share photos of themselves pictured near shelves at their favorite libraries, bookstores, cafes, schools, hospital libraries - anywhere you might find texts of any kind.
For health care workers in particular, knowledge and data, whether located on physical or digital shelves, translates directly into quality improvement in practice and patient care. That's a huge deal.
Now, Banner Health Library Services staff want to share a few shelfies with you and maybe inspire you to share your own. This year, we are going the route of the classic home bookshelf shelfie:
